The attraction for me is a different environment than what's usually available - not that Northern California is lacking in scenery - and models from all over. That said, I'm not crazy about Cowtown. Boojum at least has fountains and lush foliage, but I've been there twice now.
Let's think outside the AZ box for a minute. Why does this even have to be in AZ? Taos? Key West? Hilo? Big Sur? I had an absolutely great time on the Big Island last November, and found the place teeming with models who want to meet mainland photogs. I found Taos stunning in the late spring, though I didn't shoot any models there. Key West is almost anything goes - they even have a "nude" bar where the customers can get naked (I didn't). Palm Springs has some clothes optional upscale resorts, and Nov is a perfect time to be there. Many possibilities to consider.
: good news and bad news... : Hopefully there will be a fall shootout, probably the weekend of November 5th-8th. : But so you all know... the toejam Tree seems to want a lot more money than last time, and they can't book it to us too far in advance, which was the main reason the ShootOut was announced so late the last time. So either we do Cowtown for the whole weekend, with perhaps the Booj on Monday... or we might possibly get the Booj for Sunday as well. But it'll be potluck. If I wait until I know for sure about the Booj, it'll be too late to set up the Fall Shootout. : Sooo... how many people might be interested in a Cowtown only ShootOut?
